Day 2 in Ecuador was a trip to even higher ground (12,500’) to festivities celebrating the newly created Anstisanilla Reserve, partially funded by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC). These grasslands and cliffs are the primary breeding areas of the Andean Condor. Photos that follow include: the attendees of the ‘ribbon-cutting’, including local caballeros; a very inquisitive Andean Fox - check out his bushy tail - wondering what smelled so good (beef shish kebabs on a grill); a young Andean Condor that flew right over us on the bluff; and a pair of very rare Andean Ibis.
