Here are photos of last couple days in Texas: drove to a private ranch south of Laredo that is on the Rio Grande in search of White-collared Seedeater. I was accompanied by the owner’s son: the land has been in the family for generations. Notice Eddie’s packing some serious ‘heat’ as he checks out what’s going on across the river in Mexico! I received assurances there had been no incidents regarding cross-border traffic, but still nice to have him along for the search, which finally resulted in finding the bird down at water’s edge. Female, looked like this one from Google Images. Next day saw another lifer, Rose-throated Becard, at the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge. And final photo was, well, it just had to be taken!
